Here they are, the Videogame Oscar awards =) . Let's choose the best games in every area. (Both console and computer games count; older games count too, if you think they are still the best in some area.)

The selection process will be done in 3 stages (candidate proposals, candidate confirmation, votes). Please be honest when voting, and try to not change your mind, so things will be easier for me.

During this first stage, everybody may propose his/her favorite game for every category. When everybody has posted, I'll make some lists and explain what we'll do in the next stage.

--------------------------------
--------------------------------

FIRST STAGE:

To participate in this first stage:
<ul type="square">[*]Copy and paste the form below, then fill in your favorite game in every area[*]Specify games in the format Full Name (System); for example Alex Kidd in Miracle World (SMS). This does not apply for the categories of Best director and Best developer. Note: For multiplatform games, the "official" version will be the original one, unless the game has been heavily modified in a newer release.[*]Only games already released in North America or Europe count.[*]Only ONE game per category allowed. Anything that is not a single game (including the name of a series) will be ignored.[*]It's OK if you want to put the same game in many areas, as long as you're being honest.[*]You don't have to propose a game in every area. Leave some lines blank if you don't know/can't decide/etc.
Here are the categories and their description (this is not the form):
<ul type="square">[*]Best graphic technology: Value the most complex, best looking graphics (like a lot of polygons, great textures, tons of lights, great GFX, etc.). Naturally, this is only for 3D games.[*]Best visual art: Value the artistic side of graphics (the nicer and best crafted scenarios and characters).[*]Best graphics: Value both graphic technology and visual art (weighted by about 50/50). This is simply the best looking game. Only for 3D games.[*]Best music: Self explanatory.[*]Best sound effects: Value the best sound effects, including environmental sound.[*]Best voices: Value the amount of voices and the quality and number of voice actors.[*]Best sound: Value music, sound effects and voices (music weights the most, then voices, then sound FX). This is simply the game with the best sound.[*]Best game design: Value the general design of the game, the gaming system, the amount of innovation, how the game plays in general, and how fun it is to play.[*]Best length: Value the length of the game, the amount of side-quests and the replay value.[*]Best story: Value the plot of the game, its depth, its moral and philosophical value, etc., and how is it told.[*]Best characters: Value the characters' personality (NOT how good they are at fighting), their development, how they interact with each other, etc.[*]Best gameplay: Value game design, length, story and characters (weighted as you want). This is the best game without counting graphics or sound.[*]Best director: If you know some famous game directors (like Suzuki, Naka, Miyamoto, etc.) and you have a favorite, you can propose him/her here.[*]Best developer: Your overall favorite development team.[*]Best system: Your all-time favorite system, which may or may not be next-gen. Propose the system you had the most fun on, or whatever you want to decide the best gaming platform ever.[*]BEST GAME: Your favorite game goes here.
IRT Xel: Isn't Guilty Gear X for Dreamcast released in the US or Europe? I thought it was. You could also propose the arcade version, which ran on the Dreamcast arcade counterpart Naomi board. And, of course, you can vote for the PS2 version too. Your choice.
